Today we spent happy hour at Cascabel a new restaurant in Santa Rosa. This place has so much Tequila it’s crazy! I am not a tequila drinker or I probability would not have been able to choose a cocktail. For me today was all about the Red Sangria. It’s made with red wine, Sandman Ruby Port, citrus fruits and simple syrup. The drink was well balanced, not too sweet. It had a nice spicy note from the port. A very yummy, refreshing drink.
For our Happy Hour treat we ordered Guacamole and Chicken Taquitos. The guacamole was not to spicy with good acid balance. I wish it was a bit creamer, but thats just me. The taquitos were made with shredded chicken and served with a lovely fire roasted tomato salsa and crema and fresh quaso crumbles. I liked these very much. The fire roasted salsa stole the show.
We also had chips and salsa. It came with 3 different sauces, all of them good.
Sunday is a great day for an afternoon drive and todays destination, Valley Ford. Valley Ford is a tiny town on the coast of Northern California. I would guess that more cows live there than people, a farming community and very beautiful.
Dinucci’s main building is 110 years old and has an old time feel to it with the slanting floors and the hap hazed floor plan. Super rustic and very cool.
The restaurant has been serving family style italian food since 1939. The menu is filled with options and made for a difficult choice…. mine was the Chicken Parmigiana. A boneless chicken breast served with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. It came with soup and salad.
The soup was delicious. The tomato and spices were balanced and the spaghetti noodles were a nice change. The house salad was served on a chilled plate and very yummy.
My Chicken Parmigiana was killer! It was welled cooked with the tomato acid soooooo good, I over ate. I love cheese, and the cheese was pooled around the chicken. I was so happy with this dish. My to go bag was bulging with delicious food. Yum for me!
Today we found ourselves in the beautiful town of Healdsburg, CA. This town is just fantastic to tourist in. It has so many shops, tasting rooms, art galleries, and restaurants you could spend a whole week here and still miss something.
We picked the Healdsburg Bar and Grill for our lunch stop. I started with a Pomegranate Lemonade. It’s a hand crafted cocktail made with vodka, pomegranate liqueur, and fresh lemonade. It was very refreshing and tasty. My choice for lunch was the BBQ Burger. It was cooked perfectly and had a smokey BBQ flavor. The BBQ Sauce was smokey, spicy and tangy all at once, and was quite delicious. It was served with pepper jack cheese and beer battered onion rings. I would totally order this burger again.
La Rosa is located downtown Santa Rosa, California. It has a fun atmosphere and LOTS of Tequilas to pick from.
Today we had lunch. I ordered the Carne Asada Taco Salad. The flour shell was light and crisp and cook perfectly. The salad had a ton of delicious carne asada on it that was nicely seasoned and juicy. It was also filled with black beans, salsa fresca, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, and of course lettuce. The dressing was a cilantro-lime vinaigrette. I enjoyed this salad very much. The beans and guacamole were the stand outs for me today. The beans were so flavorful and just the right consistence. The guacamole was creamy and with the perfect amount of lime that had me eating just fork fulls of it! Next time I will make sure to order a side of the guacamole so I have enough!
zazu kitchen is located in The Barlow. An eclectic shopping experience in Sebastopol CA. We love visiting this town, it has a small town feel with lots of extra art and hippies. So much fun to stroll thru the Barlow eating and shopping and tasting wine.
Today we stopped in at zazu for lunch. We started with a Hurricane to share, it is served in a pail and was made with rum and vodka. It had a yummy punch flavor and a nice tart finish.
Next up an order of wings. They were cooked perfectly, moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The sauce was super tasty with a tart, sweet smokey flavor.
For my main course I had to have the Black Pig Bacon Hot Link served on a pretzel bun. I am 100% positive I will order this again. The bun size is perfect and was toasted. The Dog had a nice char and crunched when bitten into, but oh so juicy on the inside. The sauce was tangy and good and the pickled onions added a nice bite.
Sadly, because every bite was so good, I ate everything leaving no room for desert. Next time.
